Sydney-based software aggregator Software Combined Group has acquired Auckland database disaster recovery software specialist Dbvisit.

The buyout is Software Combined’s second swoop on a Kiwi technology company in 2024 following its April acquisition of another Auckland-based company, Activate.

The deal is Software Combined’s eighth acquisition since its establishment in 2020.

Dbvisit specialises in the provision of standby, or “warm”, disaster recovery software across enterprise databases including Oracle SE, SQL Server and PostgresSQL.

The company has relationships with more than 1700 customers across 120 countries, with a significant and growing presence in key markets, particularly Europe.

“Dbvisit is attractive for the growing Software Combined family and our acquisition of the company is further proof of our commitment to growing our presence in New Zealand,” said Evert den Hollander, CEO of Software Combined.

Den Hollander said the company’s approach was focused on providing acquired software companies with a platform for continuing growth and innovation.

“Dbvisit is a perfect example of the kind of software company we want to work with – it is stable, and it has strong, deep customer relationships,” he said.

“We are very confident that Dbvisit will benefit from the active support that Software Combined provides.”

Following the acquisition, Dbvisit will retain its head office in Auckland and no changes are expected to staffing or their location.

“We want a home for our business that shares our values about business and people, providing us the environment to continue innovating and growing the way we like to,” said Dbvisit CEO Mark Otten. “Software Combined offers exactly that.”

The terms of the deal were no disclosed. Dbvisit founder Arjen Visser still held a controlling stake in the company at time of sale.
