Australian technology services and solutions provider Data#3 has launched a Security Operations Centre (SOC) at its Brisbane head office.

Brad Colledge, CEO and managing director of Data #3, said this service will be powered by SecurityHQ, a global cyber security company and an international SOC provider.

“The opening of this SOC marks a significant milestone in our journey to provide unparalleled security services to our customers,” he said. “Security remains the top priority for business and technology leaders.

“With the ever-increasing threat landscape, this facility is another strategic investment towards alleviating the burden on IT teams. It allows them to focus on transformation projects and shaping their digital future.”

Richard Dornhart, national security practice manager at Data#3, sees this as an opportunity to help its customers improve service delivery, increase agility, and extend service coverage while significantly reducing ICT risk.

“The unveiling of the new next-generation SOC is a testament to the strong partnership between SecurityHQ and Data#3 and underscores our commitment to serving as an extension of our Australian and Queensland customers’ IT and Security teams,” he said.

This latest news from Data #3 comes as the technology provider saw over a billion dollars wiped off its statutory revenue over 18 months following new accounting rules in March 2024.

The publicly listed Australian IT services provider saw a $1.67 billion decrease in official revenue for the year ended 30 June 2023 and a $761 million decrease in revenue for the half-year ending 31 December 2022.

This is followed by a review by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC), leading Data#3 to recognise revenue from contracts for selling some software products as an agent rather than a principal.
