Datacom has launched its new custom-designed integration centre in South Australia (SA).

This marks the third centre in SA that will elevate support for central and regional customers, as well as act as a national hub. Combined, the trio employ more than 1,000 staff across the state with the facility expanding capacity to the point of processing and configuring up to 2,500 digital devices per week.

This includes full spectrum support, from taking receipt of bulk digital assets, configuring them to the precise network and security needs of diverse customers in the state across government, corporate and commercial industries, through to delivery and installation.

Datacom Product Solutions Group (PSG) director Ross Salisbury said the launch of the facility kicks everything up a level for customers across SA.

“We’d outgrown our previous facility and so the timing was right to invest in a bigger space that we could customise into the new industry standard for a facility of this type,” Salisbury said.

“This launch comes hot off the heels of the new warehouse facility that we opened in NSW, all of which are strategic investments in helping our customers digitise, modernise, and deploy staff at speed.

“The other big benefit for our customers is the boost they get to their sustainability, as every activity is inherently managed with a circulatory sustainability approach.”

Salisbury said the services component solidified successful relationships with various customers and vendors. Three years ago, Datacom grabbed a spot on the SA government’s $180 million personal computer and server equipment panel as well as the $300 million managed platform services panel.

“Vendors have done a good job with their product, but they need us to provide local integration support and management,” he said.

“We think the best model for most clients is getting better efficiency out of their hardware fleet. For years customers have had lots of stock sitting in their environment, inefficiently used and not accounted for. We can at least give you advice, keep it rolling in and securely handle it.”

The new facility has capacity for storage of 250 pallets (backed up by a national capacity of 1,500 pallets), CCTV security, dedicated integration facilities, a collaborative office space with customer hot desks and a vendor room for repairs, as well as a staff kitchen, bathroom and shower facilities.

The types of services the integration centre will feature include Datacom circularity services; imaging of devices using products like Microsoft System Centre Configuration Manager (SCCM) and Intune; standard operating environment (SOE) management and development; on-site technicians including VIP services; approved Lenovo repair agents; asset tagging of devices using client or Datacom supplied custom tags; shipment consolidation and removal of packaging and sticker removal, bundle preparation, electrical testing and reporting.

SA-based organisations will benefit from improved efficiency through faster tech integrations into their businesses and smoother onboarding of new staff members.

The circulatory approach to the operations of the facility — where all asset packaging is removed and recycled by the facility, and all life-expired assets are responsibly managed on behalf of customers — will also see a significant improvement in sustainability efforts.

Datacom has invested in driving its circularity services in the market and is currently one of 100 HP partners globally to achieve the Amplify Impact Catalyst five-star status. This is the highest level of recognition bestowed on a partner by HP.
