The Digital Transformation Agency (DTA) has added an enterprise resource planning (ERP) category to BuyICT’s software marketplace.

In a blog post, the DTA claimed claimed that it will allow government agencies to access a “wider and more diverse range” of sellers that provide ERP product and services

The category will allow sellers to offer a range of core and edge ERP solutions including financial management, human resources, payroll and workforce management systems, the DTA said.

The new category will also be available to non-corporate Commonwealth entities (NCEs), the DTA said. They can look to purchase ERP solutions to manage corporate and back-office systems and now have access to a broad range of sellers under the new category.

While the use of the ERP category is mandated for NCEs, the category is also available for corporate Commonwealth entities (CCEs) and state and territory governments.

The Agency said the introduction of the category supports a new direction for how the Australian Public Service (APS) will manage its ERP corporate systems.

Additionally, the DTA and Department of Finance plan to continue to work closely with industry sellers and government agencies to make sure the approach and the new category works well.

This will also “support increasing competition in the ERP market and drive the uplift of government services delivery,” the Agency said.

“It will offer new opportunities for small to medium businesses to sell ERP solutions to the APS, boosting the local economy and building domestic capabilities through government purchasing,” said Wayne Poels, general manager of the digital investment advice and sourcing division at the DTA.

The opening of the ERP category comes months after the DTA launched the second iteration of its Digital Marketplace panel in March.
