Takes over from Damien McDade, who has left the business. Credit: Michael Alp (Nutanix) Nutanix has appointed former Cohesity managing director for Australia and New Zealand (A/NZ) Michael Alp to lead the cloud vendor’s efforts in the A/NZ region. As managing director for A/NZ, Alp will be based in Sydney and responsible for developing Nutanix’s business strategy for the region and shaping strategic networks and partnerships. He takes over the role from Damien McDade, who has left the business. “Australia and New Zealand are extremely mature cloud markets, having been early adopters of the technology,” Alp said. “Cloud approaches have come of age here, and organisations are increasingly shifting from ‘cloud-first’ to hybrid multicloud strategies because they need to be able to run their applications and data everywhere.” Alp comes to Nutanix from Cohesity after being its A/NZ managing director from June 2022 to April 2024. Prior to this he also held leadership roles at Pure Storage, Polycom, EMC, Data Domain, Legato, Tripoint and Oracle. “After more than three decades leading some of the most important technology companies in A/NZ, Michael has the skills, relationships, and insights to take Nutanix to the next level across Australia and New Zealand,” said Nutanix general manager and vice president for Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) Aaron White. “In addition, after years breaking down silos in the three-tier world, Nutanix is doing the same to cloud. With that in mind, as a former rugby front rower, Michael is the perfect fit to lead our local business.” Related content news Microsoft's A/NZ SMB channel lead Brad Clarke leaves Leaves his position after “after 17 rewarding years”.
