Under the agreement, Westcon-Comstor will become an approved distributor of Nokia Drone Networks in Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore. The distribution agreement also extends to the EU and the UK. Westcon will distribute the solution through Nokia-certified technology resellers, systems integrators and service providers. Antony Byford, vice president of IoT and collaboration at Westcon-Comstor, said drones are a technology with growing demand in areas like public safety, smart cities, construction and energy. The 4G/LTE and 5G-connected drones can serve numerous use cases, including site security, machine inspection, predictive maintenance, and environmental sensing. The demand for industrial-grade drones is gaining momentum across sectors including ports, oil and gas, mining, public safety, telecommunications and utilities. Nokia Drone Networks is a CE and FCC-certified turnkey drone-in-a-box solution made for Beyond Visual Line of Sight operations, which can lower operational costs while boosting value by automating security and inspection workflows. It connects over public and private 4.9G/LTE and 5G networks. An open API framework allows integration of third-party applications, allowing extensive customisation of the solution to expand use cases and capabilities. This agreement follows Westcon-Comstor’s expansion of its partnership with cybersecurity platform provider Check Point Software in April. Under the agreement, Westcon-Comstor became the first and only distributor outside the US to privately list Check Point’s cybersecurity software solutions in the marketplace.
