Credit: VideoFlow / Shutterstock Wasabi Technologies has hired former Crayon Asia Pacific (APAC) director of cloud solutions Andre Carpenter to lead the vendor’s presence in Australia and New Zealand (A/NZ). In the newly created role of managing director for A/NZ, Carpenter will lead operations in the region, overseeing the cloud storage vendor’s partner and customer footprint. While a brand-new role, Wasabi previously appointed Andrew Sandes as its country manager for Australia in August 2022, who held this role until July 2023 when he took up the position of APAC business development director for surveillance and M&E. Since then, the local team reported to multiple reporting lines in the interim, one of which being head of APAC Michael King. Carpenter comes into his new role with over 15 years of experience in IT companies across the APAC region. In addition to his time at Crayon, where he worked for over two years, he also held positions at Runecast Solutions, AvePoint, Oracle, Veeam Software, HPE, Dimension Data, NetApp, Dell EMC and Compass Computer Assistance. “With Wasabi’s channel-first go-to-market strategy, we will work with partners to help customers leverage the power of Wasabi hot cloud storage to secure and store their data,” Carpenter added.
