Metisc has provided wholesale food provider Fresh Frontier with an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system in the form of Wiise.

Founded in 2014, Fresh Frontier provides a range of healthy-focused food products in Western Australia, including food bowls, salads, soups and condiments, among other offerings.

Fresh Frontier tapped the customer relationship management software and integration specialist to set up an ERP implementation project team, placing the wholesale food provider’s managing director, Michael Leen, as a project lead alongside Metisc CEO and business analyst Dean Barnett.

According to Wiise, Metisc was chosen as the “ideal partner” due to its expertise with with Microsoft Dynamic 365, its specialisation in ERP and integration experience.

The introduction of a new system was needed to replace its previous set-up, which involved multiple manual systems with multiple data sets that required hours of administration and data entry with paper, spreadsheets and disconnected systems.

Staff also had to run between the front office and the warehouse to troubleshoot order discrepancies.

In addition to Wiise, Fresh Frontier’s storage has been shifted from on-premises to Microsoft Azure.

The project spanned a 24-month roadmap across three phases, with primary developed already finished; the ERP component begun in July 2020 and ended in May 2021. However, the system is undergoing continuous refinement to meet business growth and technology developments.

In the second phase of the project, Fresh Frontier focused on integrating more tools. For example, Microsoft AI builder was established to scan documents and invoices, claiming to speed up finance processes.

Dynamics 365 Sales was also utilised to tailor deals on specific products, during the quoting process, directly through Wiise.

After this, Fresh Frontier deployed Shaperlight, a business intelligence tool, to gain understanding of its business performance with the ability to see daily production orders and statistical and analytical information.

With Wiise in place, automated order processing can be inputted in minutes, as opposed to hours, which means meal production can start four and a half hours earlier.
