Credit: QCIS in action Queensland’s Department of Transport and Main Roads has rolled out a new Motorola Solutions mobile application for transport inspectors. The Queensland Compliance Information System (QCIS) application replaces paper notebooks with a digital solution that streamlines how operational information is processed, stored and analysed. The new QCIS app allows inspectors to access real-time vehicle registration and licensing information, giving them the ability to record up to 3,000 vehicle intercepts and issuing up to 1,000 compliance forms, including infringement notices, every month. QCIS also integrates with relevant compliance databases for heavy, passenger and transport vehicles and is further enhanced with Queensland’s new Digital Licence app. The app also supports road safety at a national level by sharing Queensland’s heavy vehicle information with the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator. “By equipping Queensland’s road inspectors with the latest digital technology, they can better uphold the state’s road regulations and compliance requirements which ultimately benefits all road users in our state,” Transport and digital services minister Bart Mellish said. Other Australian organisations that use Motorola Solutions’ mobile applications to help front-line workers operate safely and efficiently include the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator and Western Australia Police, with the latter announced in March 2022.
