Trend Micro has hired former Aqua Security head of channels for Asia Pacific and Japan Chris Zamagias to lead its own partner efforts in Australia and New Zealand (A/NZ) for its commercial business.

According to the security vendor, Zamagias’ appointment as head of partnerships and alliances for A/NZ is part of Trend Micro’s “dedicated focus and investment” in its channel community to support, build and nurture partners and resellers in the region.

He joins the company with over 35 years of experience in channel and reseller positions, with the last two spent at Aqua. Prior to this, he also worked in channel-focused roles at Juniper Networks, F5 Networks, McAfee, Veritas and NEC.

“Chris’ extensive experience in developing and managing channel communities across the region will be an invaluable addition to our business,” said Srujan Talakokkula, Trend Micro Commercial managing director for A/NZ.

On his appointment, Zamagias added that he prides himself on identifying opportunities and implementing programs to grow business opportunities and is looking forward to working with partners across the region.

Zamagias’ appointment comes months after the promotion of Talakokkula to his current position, who up until February was Trend Micro’s enterprise sales leader for the northern region of Australia, encompassing the ACT, Queensland and NSW.

This in turn followed the promotion of former A/NZ vice president Ashley Watkins in January to lead the Trend Micro USA south region.
