Credit: Vir Inder Nath (amaysim) MVNO (mobile virtual network operator) amaysim has appointed Virinder Nath as vice president amid plans to offer more products. In the role, Nath will oversee amaysim, Coles Mobile and Catch Connect under Optus’ Challenger Brands portfolio. He will also lead the telco’s plan to expand its product offerings, starting with the launch of home internet services. Nath takes the role over from Renee Garner, who was the MVNO’s head until December last year and is currently VP of mobile and home at parent company Optus. He comes to amaysim with over 20 years of telco experience, with the last 17 spent at airtel. Prior to this, he worked at Idea Cellular in New Delhi. A statement from amaysim claims that Nath spearheaded airtel’s broadband business expansion from under 80 cities to over 1,000, as well as its launch of fixed wireless access based home broadband services and development of integrated service platforms. Matt Williams, managing director of customer solutions at Optus, claimed Nath’s international telco experience “will be a game-changer for our brands”. “We are excited to see the bold and disruptive changes he will bring to amaysim and Challenger Brands as he shakes up the MVNO [mobile virtual network operator] market and challenges the status quo to deliver even more value to our customers, particularly as we gear up to launch amaysim NBN Home Internet.” Related content news EDGE 2024 in photos: White Dinner sponsored by WatchGuard Technologies Attendees from A/NZ were treated to a three course meal as well as a fireworks show.
