Field Solutions Holdings (FSG) has bagged a five-year contract to provide telecommunications services for the Tasmanian government.

Valued at $1.3 million, the deal will see FSG supply IP transit capacity to Tasmania Digital Strategy and Services (DSS), adding a layer of critical security to its existing telco offerings.

The contract marks FSG’s first under its new standing offer arrangement (SOA) for data and internet services with Networking Tasmania, which it signed last year.

It expands the scope of services include data and internet from the FSG, plus adds local peering via Internet Association of Australia.

FSG also has a long-term infrastructure-as-a-service contract with the Tasmanian government.

“This agreement with DSS marks the first under the new SOA and underscores FSG’s commitment to Tasmania, as well as utilising our extensive digital infrastructure and security capabilities in the region” said Andrew Roberts, CEO of FSG.

“We now have the ability to work with all other government agencies to deliver internet and WAN services with integrated security capabilities such as threat detection and fully encrypted software-defined networking, where traditionally, Telstra was the only available option,” added Roberts.

The deal comes over two years after FSG acquired Hobart-based IT hosting infrastructure and telecommunications services provider Tasmanet.

Since then, FSG claims it has continued to expand its product offerings to Tasmanian government agencies.

“This latest development strongly supports our strategic vision to replicate this model with other government agencies across Australia,” added Roberts.

FSG’s offering of local peering in Tasmania, alongside Internet Association of Australia, will launch on 27 March in Hobart.
