Telstra has appointed Shailin Sehgal as its new global head of networks and technology following the departure of Nikos Katinakis last year.

Sehgal first joined Telstra as executive vice president of network applications and cloud in June 2019.

According to Telstra, Sehgal introduced “innovative” fixed wireless technology as well as cloud-hosted products and managed services.

Prior to joining Telstra, Sehgal held senior roles at technology companies in both India and the United States.

“Shailin’s strong track record and experience will be invaluable in delivering our network ambitions,” Telstra CEO Vicki Brady. “We have a long history of global and domestic network leadership…I look forward to Shailin’s leadership in driving this forward.”

Sehgal’s predecessor Katinakis exited Telstra in October 2023 citing his desire to pursue a career in North America.

“Nikos has been instrumental in ensuring Telstra delivers and operates next generation network technologies to create one of the largest, smartest, safest and most reliable mobile networks in the world,” Brady said at the time.

“Network leadership is a clear strategic priority for T25 and beyond. Nikos will leave a strong team to continue to grow our global reputation.”

Last year, August marked the first full year of the telco’s T25 strategy, displaying continued financial growth and positive momentum during FY23. At the time, Brady said its T25 strategy was on track and will hit the half-way delivery point in a few months’ time.
